On May 22, 2005, a Skyservice Boeing 767 commercial jet liner,
Flight 560, departed from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport en route to Punta Cana, Dominican
Republic with approximately 318 passengers on board. The
take off and flight were uneventful. Upon arriving in
Punta Cana, the landing was so forceful that the airplane
bounced off the runway three times before finally coming to a
stop.
How Serious was the Crash?
The Statement of
Claim alleges that the landing was so violent that the jet liner's fuselage sustained significant structural damage and resulted in the
plane bouncing off the runway three times before finally coming to a stop.
As a result of the “crash” landing, the oxygen masks in the
plane were released and various items in plane, including video monitors, baggage and metal containers, were thrown around within the
plane causing injury to many passengers.
